Mancinelli, Joseph died on March 25th at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Josephine (Lobosco), his sons, Joseph and John, his daughters, Marlene and Celeste, his daughters-in-law, Linda and Valerie, his sons-in-law, Greg and Art, his Granchildren, Dara, Greg, Melissa, Laura, Thomas, Jonathan, Samantha and Rachel and his great grandchildren, Henry, George and Leo. Another great-grandchild will be born in the Spring.
Joe was born in Paterson on October 23rd, 1921, one of five children. His parents, Floriano and Maria and siblings, Lou, Frank Johnny and Evelyn, are deceased.
At 15, Joe was sent to California as a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). At 21 he joined the Marines. He fought in the Pacific during World War II and was wounded on Iwo Jima, where he received the Purple Heart.
After the service, and for most of his working life, Joe was an Equipment Operator for the Passaic Valley Water Commission. He was also on the Custodial Staff at William Paterson College and an Employee at Capezio's Wayne.
Joe's deepest wish was that his four children complete a college education and he lived to see this dream to fruition with the added bonus of attending the college graduations for each of his seven grandchildren. His remaining granddaughter will enter college in the fall of 2010.
Joe survived the Depression, WW II and the early deaths of his mother and older brother. He was neither glib in speech nor superficial in his emotions. He was a man of deep faith with intense love and devotion to his wife and family.
During his final years of ailing health he was lovingly attended by Carmela and Doreen, his personal caregivers.
