Obituary of Benjamin J. La Marta

La Marta, Benjamin J. age 81 of Paterson at rest in Wayne on April 6, 2009. Beloved husband of the late and former Diane De Rose. Loving Father of Susan M. Ebbinkhuysen and her husband Fred of Lafayette, Christina Gurnari and her husband John of Totowa, Robert J. La Marta and his wife Helen of Hardyston and Patrick R. Papagni and his wife Maura of Montville and the late Benjamin J. La Marta Jr. Brother of Theresa Mc Creath of Paterson. Grandfather of Melissa Wagner, Fred Ebbinkhuysen Jr, Heather Lynch, Robert La Marta, Mario La Marta, Anthony Gurnari, Dana Gurnari, Michael Papagni, Lauren Papagni and Jenna Papagni. Also surviving are six Great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and his beloved pet dog, Biscuit. Born in Paterson, he lived in Paterson lifelong. He was Owner/proprietor/Glazer for Luther Studios, Paterson, for the last sixty five years. Mr. La Marta was a Parishioner of St. Agnes R.C. Church, Paterson and was an Usher there for the past sixty years. He was a founding member, chef and past officer and of Passaic Valley Elks Lodge # 2111, Totowa. Mr. La Marta was a WWII Navy Veteran serving in the Pacific Theater. A dedicated family man, he loved to travel to Aruba and was an avid Hunter, Fisherman and Bowler. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Wednesday at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Agnes R.C. Church, Paterson at 10:00 AM. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
