Obituary of Edward Joseph Haefeli Sr.

Haefeli, Edward Joseph Sr., age 91 of Totowa at rest in Paterson on October 22, 2024. Beloved husband of Theresa (nee Buono) Haefeli of Totowa. Loving father of Rita Aboyoun and her husband Louis Sr. of Wayne, Edward Haefeli Jr., and his wife Lori of Wayne, Gina Sharp and her husband Scott of Lake Hopatcong, and Tifanie Saccomano and her husband Victor of Kinnelon. Adoring grandfather of Louis Aboyoun, Jr., Edward D. Haefeli, Nicole Gavin and her husband Scott, Wade Anthony Woolridge, Ciara Sharp, Madalyna Saccomano, and Luciano Saccomano. Doting great-grandfather of Bennett, Louis, Emerson and Lilah. Dear uncle of Nicole Buono, Anthony Buono, Mark Haefeli, and Brian Haefeli. Born in Haledon, he moved to Paterson, where he lived above the beloved Haefeli's Tavern, before moving to Totowa 45 years ago. Ed attended St. Mary's Grammar School and High School, where he was a multi-sport athlete. He was a United States Army veteran, stationed at Fort Bragg and was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, where he was a paratrooper with twenty-two jumps. After he served, He worked for Zabriski Chevrolet and later became a salesman for Schaefer Beer. In 1972, Ed started All Jersey Express Trucking Company, Newark. Through much hard work, dedication and his family, he grew a successful company for many years before retiring in 1993. Mr. Haefeli loved to golf and was an active gin rummy player. He enjoyed going out for dinner and loved traveling to Florida. Ed enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren. One of his most treasured things to do was to go shopping with his beloved Ciara. He was also a Totowa Councilman and a member of the North Jersey Country Club, Wayne for 31 years. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Monday at 9:15 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Mary's RC Church, Paterson at 10:00 AM. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Friends may visit Sunday 2-6 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, would be appreciated.
