Chiappelli, Raymond age 86 of Jackson, NJ formerly of Haledon and Paterson on August 10, 2012. Born in Brewster, Pa. he lived in Paterson for most of his life, then Haledon for 30 years before moving to Jackson 13 years ago. He was a Sergeant First Class for New Jersey State Police and retired as Station Commander in Bloomfield after working for the State Police for 27 years. After his retirement, he was the Police Director for Haledon, then for the North Jersey District Water Supply, Wanaque. He belonged to the Dover Pleasure Club and the Independent Social Club and was a member of the Stan Levine Breakfast Club for many years. Beloved husband of the former Phyllis Tartaglia of Jackson. Loving Father of Rayanne Vander Ploeg of Wyckoff and Geri Basile of Columbia, MD. Loving Brother of Flora Muniz of Wayne and the late Flori and Archie Chiappelli. Devoted Grandfather of Lauren Cosgrove of Wayne, Nicole Vander Ploeg of Wyckoff, Allison Basile of Columbia, MD and Anthony Basile of Columbia, MD. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the services at the Festa Memorial Funeral Home 111 Union Blvd., Totowa on Tuesday at 11:00 AM. Committal service to follow at Laurel Grove Crematory Chapel, Totowa. Friends may call Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family will accept donations to the Quarter Century Club Memorial for the New Jersey State Police.
