Obituary of Damon Gannitello

Damon Gannitello age 94 of Wayne passed peacefully on May 9, 2024 surrounded by family. Beloved husband of Carmine, nee Lapalosa, Gannitello of Wayne. Loving father of Carol Mariconda and her husband Paul of Brick, Dina Pettoni of Boca Raton, FL, Ria Gannitello and her husband George Weber of Point Pleasant, Lisa Nash and her husband Brian of Totowa and Mia Gannitello and her husband Robert Wianecki of Mountain Lakes. Dear brother of Beatrice, Patricia, Janice, and the late Sandra, Marylou, and Suzanne. He is survived by 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Lodi, he lived in Paterson for his entire young life. He met the love of his life, Carmine, and they married in 1952. He moved his family to Totowa in 1969 and resided there until his move to Wayne in 2022. During his lifetime, Damon was the proud owner of City Sign Erectors and City Equipment. His passion and dedication to his businesses, hard work and sacrifice was only outdone by his passion for his family. Vacationing in Lavallette and yearly crabbing adventures with his grandchildren were some of his fondest memories. Damon was a man with few extravagances. He was happiest spending time with his family, enjoying a glass of good red wine and singing along to Frank Sinatra. In later years, he thoroughly enjoyed visiting Boca Raton. Damon was a beacon of strength, compassion, and unlimited generosity to anyone fortunate enough to have met him. His warmth was clearly evident anytime he smiled. A memorial mass will take place at St. James R.C. Church, 410 Totowa Road, Totowa, New Jersey Tuesday June 11, 2024 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Alzheimer’s Association
