Obituary of Theresa Wassel

Theresa "Terry" Wassel,  (nee Alesandrelli), age 88 of West Paterson at rest in Paterson on April 9, 2024. Born and raised in West Paterson, she was a lifelong resident.  Terry was a very caring, kind and giving woman and always enjoyed hosting our large family holidays. Throughout her life, Terry, was always known as a devoted sports Mom and fan to her children and grandchildren and would never miss an event!  She was also an avid NY sports fan and she particularly enjoyed watching the Giants and Yankees!  Terry was a graduate of Passaic Valley High School, class of '54. Terry was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary in West Paterson for Fire Company #1, she was a West Paterson Panthers football Cheerleader coach, and she was an Office Manager for Rinko Orthopedics, Fair Lawn for 40 years before retiring. Terry was preceded in death by her adored parents Nicholas and Bridget (De Luca) Alesandrelli of West Paterson and her brother Paul Alesandrelli of West Paterson.  She is survived by her brother Nick Alesandrelli of Totowa, and her sister Mary Ann Iaconio of West Paterson.  Loving mother of Jerry Wassel & his wife, Christine of Kansas, Joe Wassel & his wife, Rose of Totowa, and Toni Ann Shpiruk of Totowa. Devoted grandmother of Joey, Jerry and his fiancée Julie, Max and his wife Katie, Eric and his wife Riley, Luke and Lenna, Matthew and Kate, and Olivia and John. Dear great-grandmother of Jaxon.  She will forever be cherished, loved, and missed by her children and family.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Mass at St. James R.C. Church, 410 Totowa Rd., Totowa, on Thursday at 10:00 AM. Cremation was private at the request of the family.  Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa is in charge of arrangements.
