Obituary of James Eifler
James Harold Eifler, fondly known as "BEEF" and "Jimmy" age 59, a native of Paterson, born on 7/11/1964, passed away on January 3, 2024. He was the beloved son of the late Harold Eifler (2017) and the late Caroline (nee LucaSavage) Eifler (2014). James was a cherished brother to Tammy Barbier and her husband Jason, and his beloved nieces Carly and Amanda as well as brother to Robert Eifler of Ohio. He also leaves behind his Uncle Robert Eifler and his wife Cathy of Manahawkin NJ, and multiple cousins.
Jimmy was a longtime resident of Totowa, where he spent his formative years, and Woodland Park, where he also resided for many years. James dedicated over 32 years to the plumbing profession as a member of Local 24. He retired in 2015 and later settled in West Milford.
Jimmy, had a zest for life. In his younger years he could often be found playing basketball and kickball at "Rat Park" where he was a legend. If you know you know. He was a Class of 1982 Passaic Valley High School graduate where he was also a starter on the basketball team and known for standing up for those that were picked on in those days. As he grew older, he found joy in riding his beloved Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was also an extremely talented Halloween costume maker for his nieces. In the past few years, he enjoyed connecting with friends on Facebook, researching his family's ancestry and history, and walking around Packanack Lake with Rosie. His passion for collecting stoneware, bottles, and City of Paterson memorabilia especially from the Paterson Fire Department was evident, reflecting his dedication to preserving local history. He was a dedicated researcher of Paterson's rich history which resulted in him being awarded the prestigious Chief John Stagg meritorious service award. Jimmy was a longtime member of the North Jersey antique bottle collectors club and administrator of the Paterson History Group on Facebook. Loved his music especially all songs by Rush and his favorite song was"simple man" by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
But above all, Jimmy cherished moments spent with his family, especially his nieces Carly and Amanda, and his beloved best buddy Rosie the bulldog.
His memory will be treasured by all who knew him, as he leaves behind a legacy of laughter, passion, and a profound love for his family, friends, and community.
