I met Rodney Chadwick in 1996 when I joined EY. I was impressed by him at first glance with his impeccable dress and stature. Most memorable were the ever-matching ties and suspenders always with a finely pressed suit and beautifully shined shoes. He always made a very professional impression, especially when he entered a room.
Rodney was an expert in Quality Assurance and continued to learn and advance his knowledge throughout his long, successful career. He worked hard to make sure his team was up to date and received the educational development needed to be world class.
He was a very caring person and was extremely dedicated to his work and his EY team.
I remember his love of classical music, something we shared in common. And, of course his love of his old-fashioned Cadillac sedan which he proudly parked at the rear of the parking lot in his favorite parking space.
He was an early in and late out of the office, walk the floor type of manager. Many a weekend you would find Rodney at his desk (still wearing suspenders) making sure everything was in order and on schedule.
I am very happy to have recently spent an evening with Rodney at one of his favorite restaurants in town along with Diana D'Ambra and Rod Bellak. We had a wonderful evening enjoying each other's company.
I would like to offer my condolences and prayers to his family and friends. Rodney will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. I will miss him.

I am very saddened to learn of Rodney's passing. I worked for Rodney for many years at Ernst & Young. Outside of a gruff exterior was a heart of gold. I am forever grateful for the opportunity he gave me.
I extend my deepest condolences to the family. I pray that God give you strength and consolation during this difficult time.

I first met Rodney Chadwick in 1998 when I worked as a placement account representative for the Chubb institute and was tasked with placing right to hire technology graduates at EY. Although the program I worked with trained programmers, Rodney convinced me that he wanted to recruit Quality Assurance professionals from that program . Any doubts I had were dispelled when he would come to the institute and speak to the students. He was passionate and spoke eloquently about the career he devoted his life too and ultimately recruited many of our brightest students giving them a pathway to their own remarkable careers. Rodney Chadwick would instantly get everyone’s attention just by entering a room. Rodney had a gregarious laugh when he found something funny and a knack for impersonating others. By appearance he was a throw back to a past era from his impeccable dress code of wearing crisp white shirts (never button collars), matching ties and suspenders, pressed suits and shined shoes. He drove a huge 1980’s caddie back then which was always parked in his favorite spot and enjoyed classical music without harps and never any vocals. Rodney managed by old school management techniques watching who got to work before he arrived and who was there after he left. He would walk the floor to see what his people were up to. His personal hell was business casual clothing.
Rodney was also a renaissance man, a deeply caring human being and a flawed man. By all appearances he was very old school but Rodney believed in life long learning and would adjust as quality assurance processes and techniques changed. He cared deeply about the people he managed and unbeknownst to them would use his own money to buy them EY gifts, food and even once tried to reduce his bonus to have more to give his people. If he knew you were struggling he would make every effort to help directly and indirectly. He took care of his sister Grace Sperry as she got older often putting her needs before his own and he was the first one to show up with tools in hand if someone was struggling with a home improvement project.
Rodney wasn’t one to seek out a credit or self promote his acts of kindness. He did what he felt was right because it was the right thing to do. He despised pomp and circumstance. Hated having his picture taken and did not want to be fussed over. He would no doubt dislike us paying tribute to his life. There were two types of people in Rodney’s orbit, those he liked and those he disliked. I questioned which one was better off at times . Ultimately it was for the same reason which was because he cared about both types of people. If he disliked someone it was because he thought they were not living up to their potential and had trouble expressing it any other way.
Rodney Chadwick was my friend and colleague. I am forever in his debt for enriching my life by the experience of knowing him. I will miss him.

I managed Rodney as head of Quality Assurance, for several years at EY. He always was impeccably dressed - matching suspenders, bow tie and kerchief. (I knew he liked me when he let me help pick them out from a catalog. ) He was an excellent manager, very realistic about his staff, their capabilities, strengths and weaknesses. He was meticulous in his work and proud of the work his department produced. He worked hard and demanded the same from his staff. But he was caring too although he did his best to hide it. Baking his staff cakes weekly was a dead giveaway. He worked with me to address problems, business and even personal, that his staff had.
When I met Rodney again about five months ago after having not seen him for 12 years, I had no idea he was as sick as he was. (For that matter neither did he.) He put me on his HIPAA list, along with Rod Bellak. He trusted me to talk to the nurses, doctors, social workers, and vet the assisted living facilities. (Rod did even more with his house and documents.)
But the news was not good, the lung disease had progressed farther and faster than anticipated.
Rodney will be missed by his coworkers, friends and family. And especially by me.

I am very saddened to hear of Rodney’s passing. Rodney hired me at EY back in 2000, and he was great to work for. With his suspenders and old school attitude, he appeared to have a gruff demeanor at first. Yet once you got to know him, you realized he was a very caring and thoughtful guy, with a great sense of humor. I think any of us who worked with him can’t help but smile when we think of Rodney. I can still see him standing at the back of a conference room, taking studious notes during a meeting.
Please accept my condolences and know that I will be praying for Rodney and you, his family and friends.
