Obituary of Arthur M. Fierro

Fierro, Arthur M. "Art" age 83 of Totowa at rest in Wayne on October 5, 2023. Dear son of the late Americ Fierro (1983) and the late Olga Fierro (1989). Loving brother of Robert A. Fierro and his wife Kathleen Sullivan Fierro. Uncle of Monica Cohen, Michele Hill and Robert J Fierro. Great-uncle of Simon Fierro. Also survived by many cousins and friends. Born in Paterson, he lived in Totowa for most of his life. He was a self-employed consultant for Arthur Fierro Consultants, Totowa, for many years before retiring in 2013. Arthur graduated from the Mannes Conservatory and was a classically trained pianist. He was a lover of Italian Opera and Beethoven symphonies. He worked for Walfredo Toscanini, the son of Conductor Arturo Toscanini, on the production of the second series of "The Critic's Toscanini" a series of Arturo Toscanini's performances broadcast for many years on classical music stations around the world as well as many other projects. Arthur was a leading authority on the works of Toscanini. Arthur worked with RCA Records and Sony/BMG in the restoration and conversion of Toscanini's and other artist's classical tape and vinyl recordings to CD. One of his early Toscanini projects was nominated for a Grammy. Arthur spent many years active in politics in Seaside Heights and with the Property Owner's Association of Seaside. He was an early and often vocal advocate for the return of Seaside to a Family Resort oriented town. He will be sorely missed by his many friends and relatives. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Thursday at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. James R.C. Church, Totowa at 10:00 AM. Cremation will be private at the request of the family.. Friends may visit Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 PM.
