Obituary of Marie Sirocka

Sirocka, Marie (nee Pflug), age 102 of Totowa at rest in Totowa on July 9, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Frank Sirocka (1980). Loving mother of Jerry Sirocka of Totowa and the late Frank J. Sirocka (2008). Dear grandmother of Wendy Nastasi of Wayne and Brian J Sirocka of PA. Great grandmother of Erika M. Nastasi of Pompton Plains, Pequannock Twp. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Marie was a Homemaker. Born in her beloved Hoboken, Marie was the middle child of Rudy and Mary Pflug. She enjoyed a childhood filled with dancing and music with her many siblings and friends. Her parents took home trophies for dancing the Waltz, and taught all the siblings to dance. They were exposed to piano, and the violin, and often had "shows" in the back yard. Marie and 2 of her sisters left school in their teens to go to work when their father fell ill. There, they assembled mouth blown lightbulbs at the Gallagher Lamp Co in Hoboken. She loved this job, and often joined in on the company parties every month. She fell for the handsome foreman that was collecting dues for the party, and he became her husband, Frank in 1939. He was an excellent dancer, so that sealed the deal. Frank and Marie enjoyed some more years in Hoboken where they started their family. Frank Jr. and Jerry were born, and the family was complete. In 1956, they moved to the suburbs and built their dream home in Totowa. Marie loved her new home. Taking care, decorating, and organizing it was a labor of love. Along the way, she enjoyed becoming a grandmother both in 1967 and 1987, as well as a great grandmother in 1994. Her love for her family sustained her as she inevitably experienced the losses that come with living to be 102 years old. She will be remembered for her wicked sense of humor, getting her hair done every week, secret handshakes, and her incredibly strong will. She sang a song every year for her birthday to the tune of Frank Sinatra's My Way, and that is how she finished her life. Her way. Services will be private at the request of the family.
