Obituary of John A. Mauro Sr.

Mauro, Sr., John A., age 81 of Clifton at rest in Paterson on July 2, 2023. Beloved husband of Anne (nee Rista) Mauro of Clifton. Loving father of Maryanne Mauro of Cedar Grove, John A. Mauro, Jr. of Cedar Grove and Michael G. Mauro and his wife Nancy of Rockaway. Dear grandfather of Alexander John Mauro of Cedar Grove, Steven Connor Mauro of Cedar Grove, Andrew Duncan Mauro of Rockaway, Ryan Patrick Mauro of Rockaway and Ethan Velez Mauro of Cedar Grove. Born in Paterson, he lived most of his life in Paterson before recently moving to Clifton. He was a member of the Paterson Fire Department for thirty-three years, retiring as Chief of the Department in 1996. Mr. Mauro was a NJ State Fire Commissioner. He was a member of the NJ Paid Chief's Association. He was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. He was also a Eucharistic minister at St. James R.C. Church, Totowa. He was a member of the Passaic County Emerald Society and the Passaic County 200 Club. Mr. Mauro enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. It was always family first. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Friday at 9:15 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at Our Lady of Pompeii R.C.
