Obituary of Maria Zoppo Rodrig

Zoppo Rodrig, Maria "Marie" age 90, reunited with her Lord on November 2nd, 2022. Maria was born in Caserta, Italy on January 19, 1932. She was married to Mario E. Rodrig until his passing in 1980. Together they had one son, Peter A. Rodrig, daughter-in-law, Esmeralda C. Andicoy Rodrig, and one grandson, Peter A. Rodrig-Zoppo III. Maria was predeceased by her parents, Romilda Veccia Zoppo and Romualdo Zoppo, as well as her brothers Ciro E. Zoppo and Girolamo "Jerry" Zoppo. Maria arrived in the United States in 1936 aboard an Italian vessel called the SS Conte di Savoia in first class and was processed aboard the ship. She and her family moved to Paterson, NJ to reunite with her father's relatives. There her family established themselves as luxury furniture salesmen. Maria and her late husband Mario went on to open several businesses including Price-Rite Furniture on Main Street, Peter's Barber Shop in Fair Lawn, and a mattress factory on Auburn Street. After the death of her husband, Maria went onto higher education, earning herself a Bachelor's of Arts in Sociology from William Paterson College in 1988. She further worked for the Superior Court of New Jersey as a senior investigative writer for the probation division in the Passaic vicinage until her retirement in 1999. Maria will be remembered as a kind and loving woman who always opened her doors, heart, and mind to anyone who needed her. She took special care to pass on the family's legacy and knowledge to her kin, particularly to her grandson, Peter. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her wake at the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are also invited to a funeral service at the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa on Monday, Nov. 7, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery & Mausoleum, 22-21 Maple Ave, Fair Lawn.
