Obituary of Salvatore Petriello

Petriello, Salvatore age 86 of Wayne at rest in Paterson on September 27, 2022. Beloved husband of the late Pia (nee Molinari) Petriello (2019). Loving father of Sonia Petriello of Wayne and the late Salvatore Petriello Jr. (2003). Dear brother of Mario Petriello, Irma Molettieri and the late Rosa De Simone, Gerardo "Cilardo" Petriello, Angelo Petriello, Antonio Petriello, Aurellio Petriello, and Italia Basile. Survivors include many nieces and nephews. Salvatore is preceded in death by his dog, Eda, who he brought from Italy and his dog Sienna. Born in Montella, Prov. di Avellino, Italy, he lived in Italy for 29 years, then came to the United States and resided in Paterson for 18 years before moving to Wayne in 1985. Salvatore was a Construction Worker for Natoli Construction, Pine Brook, for many years before retiring. He was a life member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, and just celebrated 50 years with them. Salvatore enjoyed participating in and attending Atlantic City bus trips, bus trips to Padre Pio events and the San Salvatore Parade. He loved hunting, fishing, and going to the mountains and the beach. He loved tending to his tomato and vegetable garden as well as making wine. He brought his neighbor, Jeff Wells, into the secret of making wine and Jeff, along with his brother, became the muscle in making the wine. Salvatore was a fan of SSC Napoli Soccer Team. He loved the deer visiting his yard on a daily basis, but did not like the chipmunks and squirrels. He enjoyed watching his fish in the tank. Salvatore was in the loving care of his daughter Sonia, who took care of him for over seven and a half years. He was a really good sport when Sonia would dress him up and take his photos. He loved telling people how well Sonia took care of him, and they would do anything for each other. He loved the "Ladies" and called them all "Bella" and they loved his big blue eyes. He loved hunting for mushrooms and making tomato sauce with his wife. He was a very good eater up to his last moments. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Monday at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Gerard R.C. Church, Paterson at 10:00 AM. Entombment at Laurel Grove Mausoleum, Totowa. Friends may visit Sunday 4:00 - 8:00 PM.
