Obituary of Nicola D' Ambrosio

D'Ambrosio, Nicola age 89 of Totowa at rest in Totowa on August 31, 2022. Beloved husband of Amorina (nee Di Iorio) D'Ambrosio of Totowa. Loving Father of Luigi D'Ambrosio and his wife Silvana of Rutherford, and Nicky D'Ambrosio and his wife Jill of Cedar Grove. Adoring grandfather of Nicholas, Christopher, Maximilian, and Oliver. Dear son of the late Luigi and the late Filomena (nee Di Bernardino) D'Ambrosio. Loving brother of Giovanni D'Ambrosio, Maria Monaco, and the late Filomena (nee D'Ambrosio) Sisti. Nicola married his hometown sweetheart "Amore," as he would call her. They married on April 21st, 1966. Nicola left Italy temporarily to work in Switzerland where he learned how to barber hair, while saving money to come to America. Their first son, Luigi was born in 1967 while living in Switzerland, and in June 1969 Nicola, Amorina, and 2-year-old Luigi came to America. Finding first an apartment in Paterson, saving every penny they had soon after to buy a house in West Paterson. In June 1977, their second son, Nicky, was born. Nicola and his family lived in West Paterson before finally moving to Totowa in 1996. Nicola was a man of many trades, a barber, a chef, a mason, a general contractor, but his primary means of income was working at the Rebco plant in Paterson, then after returning home would begin his 2nd job of working as a mason in all the surrounding towns. Nicola loved to spend time with his grandchildren, grow giant tomatoes in his garden, enjoy time at the Totowa pool, and volunteer at the Festa Frainese. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Saturday at 8:45 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. James RC Church, Totowa at 9:30 AM. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Mausoleum, Totowa. Friends may visit Friday 4-8 PM.
