Obituary of Daniel Ondeck
Please share a memory of Daniel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ondeck, Daniel S. passed away on May 31, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Debra (Corso) and Papa to daughters Jessica and Laura. Dan was the son of the late Daniel and Anna Ondeck. Born in the Bronx, NY where he resided for 17 years, he moved to Lancaster, PA for 3 years, then back to NY and eventually in Garfield, NJ. Dan loved life to the fullest. He was an avid reader, couldn't have enough books. Enjoyed watching movies, some over and over and over again. He enjoyed music from all genres, Que Sera Sera being one of his favorites. He also loved to cook and passed on that trait to his daughters. Some of his favorite things to do: playing games (poker, bat gammon), putting together puzzles and he couldn't get enough trivia. Manhattan was one of Dan's favorite places, always looking for the "diamond in the rough" spots that no one knew about. Many Saturdays he would take his daughters to NYC, going to the biggest room in the world - Grand Central Station, Twin Towers, Jekyll & Hyde and Mars 2112. Dan also had a striking resemblance to Michael McDonald of the Doobie Brothers. He was so much fun to be around and never lacked for conversation with anyone. Dan always made people feel that they were Life-long friends. Over the past 10 years, he became a cruise addict along with his wife. Dan insisted there always be a dog in the house and with our last rescue we got two! Besides his wife and daughters, Dan is survived by his sister MaryAnne of Lancaster, PA and many nephews, nieces, Ondeck/Ciferri cousins, and extended family and friends. He is predeceased by his brother Peter D. (Kim) and Steven D. (Debra) of Lancaster, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Dan's name. The family will have a "life celebration" party in his honor in the coming months. Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, NJ is in charge of arrangements.
