Keegan, Robert Charles September 22, 1940 - January 12, 2021 Robert Charles Keegan passed away on January 12, 2021, he was 80 years old. Robert, known affectionately to all as "Bob" or nickname "Goose", was born on September 22, 1940 in Paterson, NJ. He lived his entire life in Paterson. Bob grew up on Grand Street in Paterson, attended St. Michael`s school and was the youngest of five siblings. Bob is survived by his wife Annette Keegan (ne Verrengia), who he was happily married to for 54 years, his daughter Amy Keegan Supko and husband David Supko of Branchville, NJ, his son Robert James Keegan and wife Annmarie Keegan, and grandchildren Robert Patrick Keegan and Charles Nathan Keegan of Wall, NJ. He was predeceased by his father James Keegan and mother Margaret of Paterson, NJ and sisters Theresa, Mary, Margaret and brother James. Bob`s earlier life consisted of proud service in the US Marine Corp, joining in 1957 at the age of 17 years old and serving, most notably in Cuba and Alaska. He was honorably discharged after 3 years of service. Bob went on to a career with the federal government that started with the Paterson Parks Department and continued with 44 years of service with the Paterson Post Office. Bob took great pride in his work, but his most enjoyment came in the people he "met" on his postal route every day and always stopping to share a story or smile with them. Bob was notably a great jokester and was always ready with a punch line or joke and would sometimes just call someone up to deliver a one liner to brighten their day. He had so many jokes, we never know where he came up with all of them, it seemed he had a new one for every day of the year and would share them with co-workers and family and friends. And they were really funny!! Besides being a great husband and wonderful Dad, a big part of Bob`s legacy, and one which his family is very proud of, is the over 100 people he helped through the 36 years of sobriety he achieved through AA. Bob mentored many and always payed forward what he learned in order to help others. He transformed his own life and helped others to change theirs for the better. We are proud of you, Dad, and will always remember your love and kindness. Services for Bob will be private at the request of the family, but will be Livestreamed via Instagram on the Festa Memorial link on Friday at 11:00 AM Arrangements are by Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, NJ www.festamemorial.com
