It was a pleasure working for Al at the Totowa Post Office. Peters family, you are in my prayers.

I worked with Al at the post office in the mid 60's. Melvin, me and the others called him "The Kid" because he was younger, than we were and had a younger more positive outlook on life than the rest of us. He always had a smile and a friendly conversation. Even though I haven't seen him in many years, I was privileged to know and laugh with him 'once upon a time.'

Big Al, you were so wonderful that it seems like everyone who ever met you has some fond memories to share. While I have an infinite supply of memories, which I will always treasure, I wanted to share a few:
1. Hours of stories about the post office, when you used to work as a security guard, or when we were little. Most of those stories taught me a lesson, and the rest were just funny.
2. How you would let me help you build things. You always made me feel like you couldn’t have put together the dresser, computer table, or whatever else Mom bought without my help.
3. All the nights we played cards, video games, and Trivial Pursuit. And you ALWAYS won.
4. The time we sat at a $50 blackjack table in Atlantic City… and all of the other blackjack and craps tables we frequented. I wish you had been able to hit a royal flush just once.
5. While standing neck-deep in the ocean, bobbing in the waves, and choosing THAT moment to tell me that you couldn’t swim. And so many other memories from being down the shore…
6. All the nights you took me bowling with you, the time you stood next to Mark Roth and he said I had ‘good form’, and when we won the Adult/Junior tournament.
7. The “reflex checks and chin scratches you would give to the cats, and the hours you would spend playing with Bernard. I’m sure he was very happy to see you again.
8. My first football game, Superbowl XLII with your Vegas bet, and my first baseball game… and you calling Howard Johnson’s 2-run home run in the bottom of the 7th against Pittsburgh. I’m still completely amazed by that.
9. Knowing there was a time you were a “badass. (No details here, for obvious reasons.)
10. Teaching me that the view of the game was better from the cheap seats, because you could see the entire field and appreciate “the game behind the game.
I am so grateful that I could go on with this list forever with so many good memories. We can all remember you and smile and laugh, which is what you always said you wanted. Rest in peace, Dadoo, you are loved and will be missed, always. Love, Punkin
