Mitchell, Philip M. "Mitch" age 87 of Totowa at rest in Wayne on December 23, 2013. Beloved husband of the former Ruth E. Link (nee Tutsch). Loving Father of Phyllis Matysik and her husband Ralph of Totowa and Doreen Daspin of Morris Plains. Father in Law of the late Andrew Daspin. Dear Grandfather of Brooke Moret of Totowa, Christopher Moret of Totowa, Ronald Matysik of Wayne and Douglas Matysik of Totowa. Dear brother of Rose Babicz of Clifton. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Born in Passaic, he lived in Passaic before moving to Totowa forty nine years ago. He was a Steel Roller for Athenia Steel Co., Clifton, for forty years before retiring in 1988. Mr. Mitchell was a WWII Navy Veteran serving in the Pacific Theater as a parachute rigger and deck controller on the air craft carrier Batan. He was a member of the VFW, Post # 7165, Clifton. He was also a skilled handyman. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Saturday at 9:30 AM. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Paterson. Friends may visit Friday 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
