Obituary of Peter J Wild

Wild, Peter J. age 89 of Pompton Plains and Manahawkin, NJ called to eternal rest in Paterson on June 4, 2017. Beloved husband of the late Terese M. (nee Smith) Wild. Father of Susan (George), Maribeth (Peter), Aileen (William) and Patricia. Loving grandfather of Joseph (Katelyn), Megan (Peter), Caitlin, Molly and Christopher. Proud great-grandfather of Peter. Predeceased by his parents, Capt. Eugene A. and Mary E. (nee Doughaen) Wild, sister, Eleanor Mullen and brothers, Dr. Eugene, Joseph and Jack Wild. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Born in Paterson, he lived in Clifton for many years before moving to Cedar Crest in Pompton Plains. He enjoyed time at the Jersey Shore and singing with various choral groups, most recently the Cedar Crest singers. He was graduated with a BA in Education from Paterson State Teacher's College in 1950 and a MS in Administration and Supervision from Montclair State Teacher's College in 1954. His entire professional career was spent working for the Paterson Board of Education, first as an elementary school teacher and then as an elementary school Vice Principal and Principal. He served as a Sgt in the US Army from 1950-1952 as an OR technician at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio TX. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Saturday at 8:45 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Butler at 9:30 AM. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Friends may visit Friday 4:00 - 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph's Hospital, Paterson, NJ and/or Cedar Crest Scholar's Fund c/o Department of Philanthropy would be appreciated.
