Obituary of Edna Cannizzaro

Cannizzaro, Edna M. (nee Strysko) age 90 of Wayne, formerly of Paterson, passed away peacefully with her daughter Joanne at her side on July 1, 2016. Beloved wife of the late Sam Cannizzaro (2012). Loving Mother of her devoted daughter Joanne Perna and her husband James of Wayne. Loving grandmother of Brianna Perna and Alyssa Perna, both of Wayne. Dear sister of Stanley Strysko of Port Jervis, N.Y. and the late Mary, Frances, Charles, Sigmund, John and George. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews as well as her loving pet dog, Kora. Born in Mahwah, she lived in Paterson for most of her life before moving to Wayne. She was a Cafeteria Manager for the Paterson Board of Education before retiring in 1990. She was also Owner/ Proprietor of Cannizzaro Bakery, Paterson for many years. Mrs. Cannizzaro was a parishioner of Our Lady of Pompeii R.C. Church, Paterson and a member of the Pompeii Seniors. She loved to travel the world with her late husband. She was a great cook, sewer, and knitter and was an avid N.Y. Yankee fan. Edna dedicated her life to being a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt to her family. She will be sadly missed, but will live on in our hearts forever and her legacy will live on through her recipes and wonderful memories shared with her family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa on Wednesday at 9:30 AM. Funeral mass to follow at Our Lady of Pompeii R.C. Church, Paterson at 10:00 AM. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Relatives and friends may visit Tuesday from 4-8 PM.
