Obituary of Edward Joseph Henry

Henry, Edward J. Jr., 90, of Cedar Park, TX (formally of Port Orange, FL and Totowa, NJ) peacefully passed away at his home on April 16th, 2016 with his bride of 68 years at his side along with two of his loving daughters. Edward was born in New Orleans, LA to Edward J. Henry Sr. and Louise (Gairens) Henry. He proudly served in the U.S.M.C. in WWII at Tinian, Okinawa, Saipan and Oahu, Hawaii.
Edward was eight years old when his family moved to Hawthorne, NJ and that is where he met and fell in love with the light of his life, Nina Criscenzo. Edward and Nina married in 1948 and lived in Totowa, NJ where they raised thirteen wonderful children together. Theirs is a true love story.
Before retiring in 1987, Edward was a Newspaper Advertising Compositor for the Herald News. After retiring, he and Nina moved to Port Orange, FL so he could enjoy his love of boating and fishing. There, Edward volunteered at the Library for the Blind, the Coalition for the Homeless and at the Palmetto House. His love of music lead him to join the Daytona Beach Surfside Chorus, the New Smyrna Beach Harmony Singers, the Elderly Brothers Barbershop Quartet, and he was also a member of the Port Orange Church Choir. Edward was a wonderful artist and loved having a cup of coffee while enjoying the great outdoors.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife, Nina Henry, his four sons, Edward III, Paterson, NJ, Gary, Newton, NJ, James, Jefferson, NJ and Douglas, Port Orange, FL and nine daughters, Lynn Behnke, Green Valley, AZ, Janice Ploch, Crab Orchard, KY, Susan Pavlak, Butler, NJ, Diane Standefer, Cedar Park, TX, Nancy Flood, Denton, TX, Mary Ann Shatwell, Waxahachie, TX, Carol Wagner, Plymouth, WI, Lori Fedkenheuer, Parsippany, NJ, and Lois Steidle, Hackensack, NJ. He also leaves behind 21 beloved grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two loving sisters, Joyce Crothers, Midlothian, TX and Frances Villopoto, Lewiston, ID, and his dearest friend John Smarz, Newton, NJ.
Memorial service on April 23rd at 10:00 a.m. at the Church Of The Hills in Cedar Park, TX and an additional Memorial service will be held on April 30th from 1-5 p.m. at Festa Memorial Funeral Home in Totowa, NJ
