Owings, Shirley Mae (nee Bedford) of Totowa at rest in Passaic on March 3, 2003. Beloved wife of the late Leland G. Owings. Mother of Michael Owings, Morgan Bedford, Carol Mc Donald, Janet Edwards, Robyn Caffrey, Barbara Ann Owings and the late Kenneth Paul, and Jeffrey Lee Owings. Stepmother of Leland George Owings and Gregory John Owings. Sister of Jeanette, Howard, Harry, and Jack Mertine. Grandmother of the late Tammy Lynn Edwards. Survivors include 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Boulevard, Totowa, on Friday at 9:00 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. James R.C. Church, Totowa at 9:30 AM. Interment at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa. Friends may call Thursday 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations to Beth Israel Hospital ICU would be appreciated. OBITUARY Shirley Mae (nee Bedford) Owings, age 71 of Totowa died Monday. Born in Kingston, NY she lived in Totowa for most of her life. She was a cleaning woman for Hickory Hill Country Club, Totowa, NJ. After that, she was a cleaning woman for Innovation Data Processing Center, West Paterson before retiring in 1990. Mrs. Owings was a parishioner of St. James R.C. Church, Totowa. She was a member of the Happy Seniors of Totowa and the Chilton B Hospital Bowling League. She was predeceased by her husband: Leland G. Owings 2 sons: Kenneth Paul Owings and Jeffrey Lee Owings And a granddaughter: Tammy Lynn Edwards Survivors include: Four daughters: Carol Mc Donald of Totowa, NJ Janet Edwards of Paterson, NJ, Robyn Caffrey of West Virginia Barbara Ann Owings of Totowa, NJ Two sons: Michael Owings of Paterson, NJ Morgan Bedford of FL Two Stepsons: Leland George Owings of Baldwin, Wisconsin Gregory John Owings of Hackettstown, NJ One sister: Jeanette Mertine of Totowa, NJ 3 brothers: Howard Mertine of Hackensack, NJ Harry Mertine of West Milford, NJ Jack Mertine of Albany, NY Also survived by 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
