Basurco, Augusto of Totowa at rest in Totowa on August 29, 2006. Beloved husband of the former Frida Rodriguez. Father of Alex Basurco, and his wife, Monserrate, Debora Basurco, Sylvia Sytsma and her husband, Thomas. Brother of Carlos Basurco and the late Laura Brooks. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Friday at 8:30 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Michaels RC Church, Paterson at 9:00 AM. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Friends may call Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Augusto and his brother in law, Angel Rodriguez were the first Peruvian family in Paterson, and paved the way for many other Peruvians to immigrate to this area. OBITUARY
Augusto Basurco age 77 of Totowa died Tuesday. Born in Lima, Peru he came to the United States in 1956 residing in Newburgh, New York, before moving to Paterson in 1958, then to Totowa 12 years ago. Mr. Basurco was a Supervisor for Ford Motor Company, Mahwah, NJ. After that, he was a machinist for Okonite Co., Paterson, NJ for 10 years before retiring. In Peru, Mr. Basurco was a Professional Soccer Player for Cyclista Professional Soccer Team for 5 years. He was a parishioner of St. Michaels R.C. Church, Paterson and was a member of La Hermandad del Seor de los Milagros, Paterson, NJ. Augusto and his brother-in-law Angel Rodriguez were the 1st Peruvian family in Paterson, and paved the way for many other Peruvians to immigrate to this area.
