Van Alstyne, Garrett Jr., age 70 of Oak Ridge at rest in Livingston on March 21, 2012. Beloved husband of the former Yolanda (Lonnie) (nee Piatti) of Oak Ridge. Loving Father of Nicole Hammett & her husband, Chris of Drury, MO, and Garrett Gregg Van Alstyne of Hope, NJ. Brother of Karen Festa & her husband, Peter of Oakland. Grandfather of Matthew and Adam Hammett. Sister in law of Abby Piatti of Vernon. Uncle of Peter Festa Jr., Gregg Festa, Bryan Hunt, Nicole Piatti, Noel Piatti and Cassandra Hunt. Also survived by many great nieces and nephews. Born in Paterson, he lived in West Milford before moving to Oak Ridge. He was a Maintenance Mechanic for Boonton Board of Education for 13 years before retiring. Mr. Van Alstyne was an Eagle Scout, then became a Troop Leader for mentally challenged children. He was a member of the NJEA and belonged to an RV Club and enjoyed driving his camper. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the services at the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Tuesday at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place at a later date at Gentryville Church Cemetery, Drury, Mo. Visitation will be Monday 4-8 PM at Festa Memorial Funeral Home.
