Brunt, Frederick A. age 87 of Lavalette at rest in Toms River on September 22, 2011. Beloved husband of the late Mary C. (nee Purdy) Brunt (1990). Loving Father of Irene B. Brunt of Lavalette, Marybeth Florian and her husband John of Pompton Plains, Pequannock Twsp., Thomas F. Brunt and his wife Tara of Bellville and the late Bernadine Brunt (1951). Dear Grandfather of Matthew, Katelyn and Jenna Florian. Born in Paterson, he lived in Clifton and West Paterson, before moving to Lavalette in 1996. He was the District Director of Employee & Labor Relations Northern N.J. District of the U.S. Postal Service, Hackensack, for 33 years before retiring in 1979. He was a parishioner of St. James R.C. Church, Totowa and was an usher there. Mr. Brunt was a WW II Navy Veteran, and a charter member of the Bernard Armitage Post #360, Paterson. He was a Charter member of the "Sunshine Boys" and played for the 1941 St. John's State Championship Basketball Team. He played for the National Catholic High School Championship in Chicago. He was an avid Yankee fan and loved Lavalette Beach since 1930. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Wednesday at 9:15 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. James R.C. Church, Totowa at 10:00 AM. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Friends may call Monday 7-9 PM and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Inpatient Hospice Unit, Van Dyke Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 99 Highway 37 West, Toms River, N.J. 08755 would be appreciated.
