Obituary of Anna Gennaro

Gennaro, Anna (nee Cascone), 92, of West Caldwell, formerly of Paterson, died on March 31, 2010. Mrs. Gennaro was born in Paterson and had lived there until 2004 when she moved to West Caldwell. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Gennaro and the daughter of the late Joseph and Grace Cascone. She is survived by her sister, Emma C. Cedrone of West Caldwell, her two nephews David Cedrone and his wife Patricia of West Milford, and Thomas Cedrone and his wife Dawn of Chatham, her niece, Ida Odio and her husband Enrique, of Elmwood Park, and eight grand nieces and nephews, David, Michael, Timothy, Patricia, Dana, Nicholas and Douglas Cedrone, and Jason Odio.
Before retiring 31 years ago, Mrs. Gennaro spent her entire professional career as a teacher at Memorial School in South Hackensack. Mrs. Gennaro earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in education from William Paterson University in Wayne, and was a member of the New Jersey Education Association. Upon retirement, she was a member of the Bergen County Retired Educators Association. Throughout her professional career and during her retirement, she and her husband, Joseph, enjoyed traveling to various places around the globe. Their travels to them to sites such as the Great Pyramids of Egypt, the glaciers of Iceland, the Great Wall of China and various destinations throughout Europe.
Mrs. Gennaro was a parishioner of Saint Brendan's Church in Clifton and in lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Brendan's School, 161 East First Street, Clifton NJ 07011.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa (973-790-8686) at 9:30 AM, followed by Mass at St. Brendan's at 10:30 AM. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Paterson. The family will receive visitors from 2 PM to 4 PM and from 7 PM to 9 PM on Tuesday, April 6, 2010.
