Obituary of Anna Romei

Romei, Anna (nee Salomone), died on March 16, 2010. Born in 1912 in San Michele, Prov. di Serino, Italy, Anna was the youngest of the eight children of Pietro and Luisa Salomone. As a young bride, she came to the United States in 1937 and settled in Paterson, where she was welcomed by her in-laws, Vincenza and Giovanni-Marino Romei and her three younger brothers-in-law. She became a skilled homemaker who enjoyed cooking and sewing and had a passion for crocheting and knitting. She readily shared these talents with family and friends. Anna was predeceased by her husband Salvatore in 1976. She is survived by her daughter, Iolanda Florio and her husband Pat of West Orange, two granddaughters, Laurie and Cathie, a brother-in-law, John Romei, and many nieces and nephews both in the US and Italy. Anna had an inquisitive mind. She was a loving and compassionate person who gave comfort and encouragement to both young and old. She will be dearly missed. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Friday at 9:00 AM. A Mass of Resurrection to follow at St. Mary Help of Christians R.C. Church, Paterson, 9:30 AM, where she was a been a parishioner for the past seventy years.
